I remember I played this for my dad in the car, and he was like, “This hard, it’s straight bars the whole time.” That geeked me I ain gon lie. I still stay in my head about my music wondering if it’s good enough, and my parents were some of my earliest, staunchest critics, lol. So, it was nice to get some recognition.

Alien was written at a time when I thought the worst of myself. It was an exercise in connecting honestly with my origins. I tried to accept the good and the bad about what it was like to be me. I thought I was on my Lil Wayne shi, I really think I’m like that.
